Jack’s Creek, a renowned family-owned Australian beef producer, has once again solidified its position as a global leader in premium beef. The company’s Purebred Wagyu Sirloin has been crowned the World’s Best Steak at the prestigious World Steak Challenge 2024. This marks the fourth time in ten years and the second consecutive year that Jack’s Creek has achieved this extraordinary feat.
The World Steak Challenge awards were at one of the best steak restaurants in London, Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse. Jack’s Creek’s exceptional performance is evident from their impressive haul of 17 medals. They won an impressive 10 gold medals across several categories including filet steak, ribeye steak and sirloin steak coming from grain fed Wagyu, Wagyu Cross, and Black Angus.
This blog post delves deeper into Jack's Creek's triumph and the acclaim it brings to the Australian beef industry which builds on their success last year - covered in our previous article Australian Wagyu Sirloin as the world's best steak. We'll also explore the factors contributing to the exceptional quality and consistency of Australian beef, as discussed in our earlier piece on Australian Wagyu beef.
The World Steak Challenge employs a meticulous and comprehensive judging process. Each steak undergoes rigorous evaluation based on visual appeal, marbling score, fat consistency, tenderness, aroma, and flavour profile after cooking.
Jack's Creek's exceptional performance is reflected not only in their gold medals for Fillet, Ribeye, and Sirloin across Wagyu, Wagyu Cross, and Black Angus entries but also in their silver medals for Ribeye and Sirloin and bronze medals for Ribeye and Fillet, showcasing the versatility and world-class quality of their extensive offerings.
Kaine Allan, Jack's Creek's UK and EU Head of Sales, expressed his delight at the company's achievements: "We are incredibly proud to be recognized once again among the top contenders at the World Steak Challenge. These prestigious accolades are a testament to our unwavering commitment to producing exceptional beef and delivering unparalleled quality on the international stage. We are honoured to represent Jack's Creek here in London, alongside one of our long-standing European distributors, Albers Foods."
Stephen Edwards, Meat & Livestock Australia Business Manager UK, echoed the significance of Jack's Creek's win: "Jack's Creek's consecutive World's Best Steak title is a remarkable accomplishment, and having experienced the quality of their products firsthand, it comes as no surprise. They are a true frontrunner in the production of high-end red meat products, consistently ranking among the world's finest. Their four World's Best Steak titles speak volumes about the unwavering commitment to quality that characterizes both Jack's Creek and the broader Australian beef industry."
Australia's remarkable performance at the competition is further underscored by the fact that Australian producers secured the highest number of gold medals (21) this year. This achievement serves as a powerful testament to the exceptional quality of Australian beef available in the UK.
Jack's Creek's Managing Director, Patrick Warmoll, attributes their success to a long-standing tradition of dedication: "These awards are a culmination of decades of hard work and unwavering passion that fuel Jack's Creek's operations. Since the 1980s, our family, the Warmolls, has been dedicated to raising premium Black Angus cattle. In the 1990s, we embarked on a journey to further elevate the quality of our beef by introducing Tajima Wagyu sires into our breeding program. This rich history, coupled with our relentless pursuit of improvement, has positioned us at the forefront of the global beef industry."
The award-winning Purebred Wagyu Sirloin originated from a steer meticulously bred on the Warmoll family's Big Jack's Creek farm in Willow Tree. The steer was then backgrounded on their Urubula property in Breeza before being finished at Lemontree Feedlot in Millmerran, Queensland. Finally, processing was undertaken at Northern Co-operative Meat Company in Casino. This meticulous approach, encompassing every stage from breeding to feeding, guarantees the exceptionally high standards that define Jack's Creek's premium beef.
"We are not only proud of our own achievements but also of the remarkable success of the entire Australian beef industry," Mr. Warmoll added. "Australian beef producers are at the forefront of global quality.
