Australian BBQ beef and Aussie hospitality brightening a London winter.
Aussie Beef UK and Trade & Investment Queensland brought some Australian warmth and hospitality to UK chefs food industry professionals with an energetic Aussie Beach BBQ - in the middle of winter.
A night to remember at Fazenda, Bishopsgate showcased high-quality Australian beef exports, including grass fed beef, grain fed beef, Halal beef. All of which are now widely available in the UK for chefs, restaurants, food manufacturers and retailers.
The room was awash with colour - Hawaiian shirts and thongs (flip flops) were mandatory despite the bitter UK weather outside. DJ, Michelle Lynn, brought an eclectic mix of beach vibes and Aussie classics that had the whole room jumping.
While guests tucked in to a menu of mouth-watering dishes made of premium quality Australian grass fed, grain fed beef and Australian Wagyu beef.
BBQ food stations dotted around the room enticed partygoers away from the dance floor momentarily. Here they were able to sample some of Australia’s finest exports, including JBS, Queenslander beef and AACo Wagyu beef. Queensland beef is renowned for some of the best beef marbling around, as well as high standards of beef traceability and beef animal welfare.
On the menu for guests at the Aussie Beef & Lamb UK Beach BBQ were:
The Aussie Beach BBQ was organised by Aussie Beef in association with Trade and Investment Queensland where nearly half of all Australian beef production occurs. The export industry from Queensland beef alone is worth $3.7billion.
Justin McGowan, TIQ CEO said: “Queensland farmers and beef producers have forged a global reputation for quality, with Queensland produce regularly consumed in more than 60 countries around the world.
“Events like this provide a wonderful platform to help grow the global profile of Queensland beef in one of the world’s finest cities.”
It wasn’t, however, just premium quality Australian Beef on show. Free-flowing Australian beer, Queensland gin and wine added to the party atmosphere thanks to Coopers Beer, Diviners Gin, Fox Creek Wines (Courtesy of the SA Government) and Brown Brothers Wines and Innocent Bystander.
While Australian seafood producers brought the surf to the Aussie Beef turf with some stunning Karumba Banana Prawns.
Aussie food innovators, Fable Foods, were also on hand to provide some of their flavoursome plant-based ingredients. Fable is made from Shiitake mushrooms whose dense, fleshy fibres and umami flavours are naturally meat-like, and delicious.
Talking of his delight at the attendance and energy levels in the room on a cold winter night, plus the excellent feedback on the premium cuts of meat, Stephen Edwards, Meat & Livestock Australia Business Manager UK said:
“We had an excellent turnout with over 200 chefs, buyers, wholesalers, retailers, journalists and food industry contacts. Everyone really embraced the Aussie beach BBQ party spirit.”
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to our event sponsors, who helped us to give a 360-degree showcase of everything Australia has to offer, not just our world-class Australian beef products but the terrific seafood, wine, gin and beers too.”
The Australian beef industry has a long legacy of producing safe, quality beef for customers around the world. Aussie Beef & Lamb takes pride in the meticulous standards that have resulted in one of the world’s highest animal health statuses, not to mention extensive traceability and eating quality programmes. Australia is a world-renowned exporter of organic beef and Halal beef too, with strict programmes governing the classification and certification of beef exports.
Already available in the UK, it’s predicted that Australian beef will make its way onto more menus and hopefully some Aussie grain fed Wagyu will be showcased alongside UK beef on retailers’ shelves down the track as diners and buyers switch on to the premium nature of the product.
Aussie beef is renowned for its consistency and superior eating quality that only comes with wide open spaces, vast verdant landscapes, and year-round sunshine. These conditions combine to form the perfect environment for rearing healthy animals and producing the best quality beef.
Stephen summarised: “In 2024 we will continue to host networking events like this to raise awareness of the ethos behind the Aussie Beef brand, which is designed to provide reassurance to the British consumer.
“At Aussie Beef we work with beef producers, that demonstrate stringent standards of sustainability, food safety, animal welfare, traceability and grading systems. If a product shares the Aussie Beef logo, it means it is a quality product that you can trust.”
